Marco di Paolo is an explorer who is sent to China by the sovereign of the Kingdom of Calabria in order to establish friendly relations.
There he is well received by the Emperor, but not all of his subjects feel the same about the Europeans. When Marco is about to return home, one of the Emperor’s citizens, with a magic stone, opens the doors to a world of dragons, that ravage everything in their path.
The Emperor, who knows the secret to controlling the dragons, manages to get them back to their dimension. He entrusts Marco with the magic stone, so that the creatures never come back and damage the human world.
After receiving such an important mission, Marco, his brother Giovanni, their companions and a Chinese friend, who reveals the secret of gunpowder, start their journey back home. However during their long trip the stone gets stolen and the dragons return to capture Marco, burning everything. Moreover, this is not the only impediment that the explorer encounters on his way, because when he arrives to Calabria, after being arrested, he discovers the king is dead and now he is replaced by his brother, the King Agostino (Hristo Shopov), who doesn’t believe in the dragon legends.
King Agostino will quickly recognise who Marco is and the close relationship that he had with his dead brother.
